Instructions:
1. Take off all the stickers from the glass jar, and make sure the jar is clean and empty.
2. In a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 liquid glue, and 1/2 water. This will be the “paste”.
3. Take a brush, and apply one layer of the paste to the jar.
4. Tear up pieces of colored tissue paper, and cover the jar with it however way you like. You can cover it in one color, or multiple colors. You can coat it evenly, or randomly.
5. After you set on your first layer of tissue paper, let it dry a little, then apply another layer of paste and colored tissue paper.
6. Keep on repeating that until you have your desired look. Don’t add too many layers though. 3-5 is good.
7. Take a marker, or black tissue paper, and add Arabic words to the front of your jar ( ex. Different names of Allah, small duas, short Islamic quotes).
8. Add any finishing touches to your jar, such as a bow around the lid, some glitter, or a wire/rope attached properly to the jar to allow it to hang.
9. Place in your candle, and watch as the light illuminates through the tissue paper and fills your room with different colors. Also, the Arabic words appear as a silhouette on the wall.
10. Create many of these jars lanterns to place in your room, around the house, or at your local Masjid. You can have a variety of jar sizes, experiment with different colors, change the height or width of the jar. It’s up to you.
I hope you try this out, and enjoy it. Have a very magical Ramadan, and may Allah be with you.
